Convert AVI MPEG WMV DAT to DivX/Xvid

Tips before we get started:

Turn OFF your Screen Saver, it will simply slow the conversion down by hours.
Do not run any other program in the background while Alon Video Converter is running, especially if you have a slower computer.
Re-boot the computer just BEFORE you start the conversion, in this way you have the best conditions as possible. Do not under estimate this step, I find it essential to guarantee a 100% perfect encode.

3 Easy Steps!

Step1 Add source video files.

Click the "Add Task" button on the main window.

This window will come up, and you need to select the task you want to do. You can have a better overview of Alon Video Converter's features here. Click "All to AVI" on the "Task Window".

Click the "Add File" button to add source files that you want to convert. The source file could be AVI, WMV/ASF, MPEG and DAT.

Step2 Set the output profile.

Select the location where you want the output file to be saved.

Click the "Edit Profile" button. Choose a DivX Codec/Xvid Codec from the drop-down list of "Video Compression Codec" and an audio codec for the output Divx file.

Usually you don't need to set width, height and frame rate as the application reads that from your source file. If it does not, check the resolution of the source file and enter the value manually.

Want to change output resolution? Modify width and height in the "Setting" area. Please note that if the source resolution is smaller than output's, the output will have tiny block as it's enlarged. For example, the output resolution is 640x480 while the source resolution is 320x240.

Step3: Click the "Start" button.

This should be the picture you'll get after you have added the task. You can add as many as you want and have then processed all together. Simply click the "Start" button to start conversion.

Alon Video Converter is a very good program. Its speed is above the average and generally it's a handy tool for all these video conversions you want to do fast and easy.

Note: If you have any trouble converting DAT file, please install an MPEG-2 Decoder. During the installation, make sure you check MPEG-2 Filter box on the step of "Select other filters to install".
