In this guide we will explain how to convert DVD to WMV (Windows Media Video) format so that you can watch DVD movies on pocket PC, Zune, Palm or other mobile devices.
Alon DVD RIPPER provides a fast and easy way to convert your DVD movies or just the parts of the movie that you want. It copies in high quality AVI (DivX, XviD...), WMV (Pocket PC, Zune...), MP4 (iPod, PSP...), 3GP, Flash Video (*.flv), VCD (MPEG-1) and SVCD (MPEG-2) formats. It also extracts audio tracks from DVD movies.
Alon DVD Ripper supports WMV7, WMV8 and WMV9.

Step 1:
Obtain and install Alon DVD Ripper. |
Be sure to download the most recent version from our site.

| Step 2:
Start the program and select "WMV Format" from the drop-down list of Convert To.

| Step 3:
Load your DVD.
Note: Please select the output format before loading a DVD. |

| Step 4:
Select the root directory of your DVD disk in the previous step and press OK. |

| Step 5:
Select the entry with LONGEST time (under Duration) and RIGHT-CLICK to change the output name. |

| Step 6:
Press the Settings button. |

Step 7: (Optional)
On the System tab, check the option to shutdown your PC when done for these long, overnight jobs. |

| Step 8:
Double-check the title, the output type, the subtitle, set the output directory, and press the Start button. |

| Step 10:
Now you're stuck with a pretty big file that you need to get onto your Pocket PC. If you did the encoding on a laptop and you have a PCMCIA to CF adapter, than transfer should be really quick. Simply insert your CF card with the adapter into one of the PCMCIA slots and transfer the movie onto your microdrive/CF card. If you did the encoding on a desktop, than you probably don't have the luxury of a PCMCIA slot. You are going to have to transfer it to your Pocket PC via a IRDA, USB, Network, or Serial connection.
